We are looking for a dynamic and passionate Clinical Pharmacist to join the Mountainside Team!

What You’ll Do

The Clinical Pharmacist will be responsible for drug distribution, clinical interventions, medication errors/adverse drug action reporting, and teaching, training and continuing education within our Emergency Department.

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of treatment guidelines, protocols, formulary changes, and clinical pathways as approved by appropriate committees
  • Develop and implement best practices associated with medication reconciliation
  • Complete medication history for all patients admitted to the hospital
  • Assist in performing patient education and patient counseling
  • Assist in medication order verification for the Emergency Department
  • Provide and coordinate education for healthcare professionals, including medical, nursing and pharmacy staff consistent with medication management initiatives and the needs of the hospital
  • Act as a drug information source to the Emergency Department staff
  • Participate and lend assistance during Codes, specifically as it relates to cardiac resuscitation and stroke Codes.
  • Assist in dosing of emergency medications during Codes by rapidly calculating, verifying, and preparing medications for immediate administration
  • Liaison between Emergency and Pharmacy departments
  • Mentor and precept pharmacy students
  • Actively participate and contribute to medication management committees including P&T and Antimicrobial Stewardship
  • Participate in interdisciplinary patient care
  • Perform any and all duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree Required
  • Valid and current NJ Pharmacy License Required
  • 2+ years of pharmacy experience requires, previous hospital pharmacy experience strongly preferred
  • Prior Emergency Department experience a plus
  • ACLS certified required
  • PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Required
  • PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Emergency Medicine Preferred 
  • Experience in unit dose and IV Admixture
