Perioperative 101 Nursing Program-OR RN

Position Summary 

The Perioperative 101 Program Resident will be engaged in a comprehensive education and training program (Perioperative 101 RN). The Perioperative 101 program is specifically designed to transition nurses without OR Nursing Experience into safe, competent, and professional Operating Room Nurses. The Nurse Resident will take part in a highly integrated and systematic approach. This program requires a commitment from the organization to the resident and vice versa. The transition from Nurse Resident to Operating Room RN will ensure responsible planning and delivery of direct and indirect patient care, developing nursing care plans in coordination with the patient, family and interdisciplinary staff as necessary and communicating changes in patient’s clinical condition with Physicians, Nursing Supervisor/Manager, and co-workers as appropriate. The Operating Room Staff RN functions as a caregiver for a specific patient population in order to achieve desired outcomes. This position directs and oversees the care provided by other caregivers through delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination. This position effectively coordinates patient care/unit activities among nursing peers, physicians and support services.  The RN Staff Nurse reports to the Nurse Manager and Nurse Director.


Position Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Must be familiar with the basic nursing performance standards as outlined in the New Jersey Nurse Practice Act

  • Previous experience in acute care nursing

  • Current state Registered Nurse license

  • Basic life support (BLS) required

  • Pediatric advanced life support (PALS) must obtain before clinical

  • Must have NJ License

  • ACLS must obtain before clinical

  • Must have the ability to adapt to changing situations

  • Need to have good assessment skills
