Sleep Technologist

Shift: Variable
Schedule: PRN Per Diem

Position Summary  

Primarily a scoring position, it also includes polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, patient care and education. The technologist performs duties as defined for a technologist.  Will be expected to cover the night shift on rare occasions.





Position Qualifications:

  • Strong ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills to score sleep studies and to effectively problem-solve.
  • Effective interaction and communication (oral, writing, presenting) skills.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details, changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Ability to function competently in stressful situations and changing work environment related to changing physician and patient needs.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within the health-system, and with patients, family members, co-workers, and multidisciplinary team members (i.e., physicians, Patient Care Services staff members, etc.).
  • Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations. 
  • Will also provide functional oversight of technician/trainee in Sleep Lab.
  • Minimum of one year as a Polysomnographic Technologist with a primary role scoring polysomnograms.




  • Current CPR (BLS) Certification
  • Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a registered polysomnographic technician (RPSGT) is required
  • Licensed NJ Sleep Technologist or Licensed NJ Respiratory Therapist is required
  • Associate of Science or Associate of Arts degree preferred
