OUR POSITION: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director, Ambulatory Systems.

The Director, Ambulatory Systems provides leadership and strategic direction in the functional support, design, instruction and guidance of the clinical applications to enable the achievement of success in the business operation at the division office and hospital facilities. Responsibilities include:  providing leadership to the Ambulatory Applications Team; developing system strategies that are congruent with overall IT strategies as well as the business goals of stakeholders; fiscal and HR accountability for the Ambulatory Team and Physician Practices; conducting business needs analysis; identifying and mitigating IT risks; and managing the implementation of clinical application projects. Must be an intelligent, articulate and persuasive leader who can serve as an effective member of the Ardent IT management team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with corporate and market level stakeholders in the understanding of application needs.
  • Develops relationships with strategic vendors to ensure alignment and knowledge of vision and product directions.
  • Identifies the organization's strengths and weaknesses and suggests areas of improvement.
  • Develops and executes structured problem management processes and embeds into team structures.
  • Coordinates with Corporate Application Leadership to ensure consistency and standardization of Ardent application strategy is maintained.
  • Works closely with PMO to help enforce change management process,  project deadlines and schedules and mitigates risk appropriately. 
  • Consistently delivers high-quality services to business stakeholders.
  • Conducts regular cross functional meetings/calls with teams to solicit feedback and organize activities related to continued improvement/optimization.
  • Delivers informative, well-organized presentations.
  • Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
  • Prioritizes and resolves issues.
  • Provides leadership and technical guidance to identify system deficiencies and analyze system problems and solutions.
  • Exhibits confidence and an extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business problems.

  • Works in partnership with other IT leadership to ensure continuous improvements are operationalized and included in future implementation efforts.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent business experience, required in clinical or healthcare industry.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in clinical care or healthcare delivery
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership capacity
  • Subject matter expertise in multiple clinical application modules/solutions with experience in configurations and system setup
  • Proven ability to understand business and clinical issues and objectives as well as the ability to translate them into application solutions and workflow
  • Established project manager of multiple large scale large projects of 12+ team members
  • Experience managing: (1) Resources and critical path; (2) Project scope; (3) Issues identification and oversight; (4) Change control processes; (5) Stakeholder communications; and (6) Project budget
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Preferred experience with the following EPIC Ambulatory Products: (1) EPICare Ambulatory; (2) Care Everywhere; (3) EpicCare Link; (4) Beacon; (5) Bones; (6) Nephrology; (7) My Chart; and (8) Nurse Triage
