OUR POSITION: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Controller focused on Information Technology.

The Controller for the Information Technology and Systems (IT&S) Department will assist the VP, the CAO and his/her direct reports in establishing financial controls and managing the financial affairs of the IT&S department.


Education: Undergraduate degree in accounting preferred. CPA certificate required.

Work Experience: Five or more years of progressively responsible financial management experience, preferably in an Information Technology (IT) company, or the IT department of a healthcare company.

Additional Requirements: Proven track record of successfully achieving financial targets in a dynamic environment. Ability to interact effectively with executive management and employees at all levels in the department. Good oral and written communication skills.


  • Develop operating ($50+ million) and capital budget ($15+ million) for Corporate IT&S as well as market level IT&S departments. Oversee financial budgeting and management of other large strategic IT projects as needed.
  • Design and implement accounting processes and related internal control procedures to facilitate appropriate classification of operating and capital expenses.
  • Facilitate and ensure the IT&S Department's compliance with all organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist corporate accounting department in production of timely and accurate departmental profit and loss statements.
  • Work with the IT&S department on the development of and the financial management of project budgets.
  • Oversee the IT&S Capital request process to ensure all documentation and forecasting is completed in accordance with policy and in a timely manner.
  • Administer and enforce contractual terms of purchased service agreements.
  • Recommend ways to improve departmental financial performance.
  • Implement policies and procedures necessary to produce timely and accurate financial statements for the IT&S department.
  • Implement policies and procedures necessary to facilitate the development and management of capital expenditure requests. Procedures should allow timely and accurate monthly reporting and forecasting.
  • Implement departmental policies and procedures necessary to insure adequate control over company assets.
  • Assist department management in accomplishing the department's financial objectives as set out in its annual budget.
  • Review monthly results with Corporate Accounting, IT&S leadership and Ardent senior management.
  • Develop and implement recommendations for keeping the department operations (both capital and operating) within budgeted financial parameters.
  • Develop pro-forma financial scenarios for IT&S capital requests and acquisition targets.
  • Periodically evaluate accuracy of previously prepared capital expenditure pro-formas.
  • Administer activity based cost accounting system within the department.
  • Supervise personnel as assigned.
  • Assist VP / CIO and his / her direct reports in negotiating contracts for certain services, and in documenting these contracts to the satisfaction of Ardent's legal department.
  • Develop and provide financial management for IT Strategic initiatives.
