We have an exciting opportunity to join our Human Resources team as an HR Benefits Specialist.

The HR Benefits Specialist handles and provides support for various HR/Benefit employee programs within the organization.  This role is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

The primary duties for the HR Benefits Specialist will include but are not limited to the following.

  • Coordinates daily benefit processing: enrollments, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability claims.
  • Assists with new-hire orientations.
  • Assist employees and HR with answers to basic benefits questions and provide employee education of company benefit programs.
  • Review, track, and process all leave of absence requests.
  • Processes personnel action forms and ensures proper approvals; disseminates approved forms.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
  • Assists with the open enrollment process.
  • Maintain benefits material to ensure the most current material is provided to employees.
  • Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
  • Other duties or special projects as assigned by management.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field of study 
  • 2+ years’ experience in Benefits-focused HR role 

Skills/Knowledge Requirements

  • Highest level of detail, process and compliance orientation.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to analyze, summarize and present highly nuanced, complex information easily.
  • Skilled in knowing protocols of when to escalate matters to leadership.
  • Knowledge of related federal, state, local regulations.
  • MS Office skills: Advanced Excel skills required; Access (or similar) database knowledge and experience helpful.
  • HRIS systems know-how: Kronos/Lawson experience helpful. Proficient in HR information systems and reporting tools.
