Ardent Health Services (AHS) is a national healthcare company headquartered in Nashville, TN. Our subsidiaries own and operate hospitals and multispecialty physician practices in six states. Ardent includes 31 hospitals, 4,840 patient beds, 25,000 employees, and 1,150 employed physicians. Within the industry, we are noted for recognizing that every hospital is as unique as the community it serves. This in-depth understanding of how health care works at the local level is one of our great strengths.

This role will primarily focus on building a de novo Investor Relations (IR) function for Ardent.   A key indication of success will be the ability to build meaningful relationships both internally and externally.      The Vice President of Investor Relations must have a demonstrated track record of excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism.   A successful candidate will know when to use varying mediums of communication.   This individual must possess the ability to understand and articulate complex financial data with an ability to simplify for external communities.   A successful candidate should be thoroughly familiar with the routine obligations and regulatory responsibilities of a publicly traded company, such as Regulation FD, requirements of Form 8-K filings, SEC reporting etc.

Examples of Responsibilities:

  • Secure ‘first hand’ understanding of the AHS story/history – being able to easily reveal SWOT level analysis and the competitive advantages of AHS in the marketplace.

  • Initiate contact with external investor organizations and individuals to begin establishing engagement, interest and awareness in AHS.

  • Effectively work with the buy and sell-side analysts to communicate Ardent story, strategic pillars and company updates.

  • Develop credible and meaningful working relationships with all key AHS leadership roles.

  • Attend key senior leader meetings that relate to company strategy, operations and business development activities.

  • Support and attend various corporate and field department leader meetings, to secure a more robust view of company activity and capability.

  • Attend professional society events to keep skill sets sharp and up to date.

  • Participate as requested with FEDPAC and AHS PAC activities.

  • Draft earnings release statements, and press conference release statements.

  • Always be prepared to respond to investor requests, and handle responses that may result from industry or company events.

  • Develop and implement relevant strategies in attracting new investors.

  • Travel out domestically (possibly international) to meet investor groups and banking institutions.  Attend banking conferences as appropriate to represent AHS.

  • Take lead on implementing the company IR strategy, reviewing and recommending changes in policies and procedures for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the IR function.

  • Develop the annual budget for the IR department, to monitor the expenses against budget, and implementation of the agreed initiatives.

  • Develop a multi-year investor targeting and communication plan.

  • Record and summarize all investor and analyst contacts.

  • Develop specific IR materials for Board of Directors meetings

  • Build a social media strategy for IR outreach

  • Take lead in relevant roadshows, conferences, seminars and meetings

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required, Master’s degree preferred

  • 5+ years of executive investor relations positions and/or investment banking
